About me and my practice
In supporting those who have experienced trauma as well as the bereaved I have enabled people to regain balance, meaning, restorative calm, so that they can regain a sense of independence to continue living their life.
I am an Accredited Pregnancy & Infant Loss Practitioner providing specialised support for all forms of Pregnancy Loss honouring the unique grief and emotions that come with each experience.
My counselling experience includes supporting people with issues of overwhelm, stress, anxiety, perfectionism, imposter syndrome, life losses, lack of meaning and purpose, social anxiety and health diagnosis in particular Cancer. I have helped individuals overcome low self-esteem, low self-worth, lack of confidence, loss of sense of self/identity.
Working online I support clients across the UK as well as expats in Europe, the Middle East and the Gulf Region.
Where appropriate I am also able to incorporate Bibliotherapy using carefully selected books and reading materials as a supportive tool to promote insight, healing, and self-awareness.
You don't need to have everything figured out before you start. I'm here to walk alongside you, helping you make sense of things and move forward in a way that feels right for you. Counselling with me offers you the space and time to explore, reflect and review how you think and feel and gives you the tools to help you live a more fulfilling and contented life.
If you're ready to take the first step or simply have a few questions you're very welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial assessment. This session gives us a chance to explore whether you feel comfortable working with me, and allows me to gauge if I am the most appropriate counsellor to meet your needs. Having this initial conversation helps ensure that counselling is a good match before you commit to a full session.
Experience
I have previously worked for a Women's Mental Health Charity providing support at two "drop-in" facilities on a weekly basis, also providing support at three female secure units allowing me to work with women who may feel isolated, afraid, even more anxious in this environment.
I have provided support for a children's bereavement charity in the North West of England. Supporting children who are bereaved by the loss of a relative or friend and including supporting children when parents have experienced pregnancy loss.
Functioning as a family support worker for a national charity I supported families, parent(s) in their own homes. Families could be struggling with a variety of issues including their own mental wellbeing issues, addiction, loneliness, financial constraints etc.
Offering counselling within an organisation which provided general mental health support. This allowed me to work with adult male and females who may have a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, individuals suffering abuse, those who have suffered historical abuse, individuals presenting with anxiety and depression, relationship issues, identity issues, bereavement, long-term health issues etc.
More recently I have provided support as an Oncology Counsellor within a Regional Cancer Unit. This involved providing counselling to individuals who had a cancer diagnosis (working with people who had an initial diagnosis, during their treatment, during surgery, recovery, or those who were receiving palliative care to end of life). I also provided counselling to those who were bereaved due to cancer.
My time on the Cancer Unit also allowed me to engage in Research regarding the impact of Compassion Fatigue for Oncology Counsellors.
In my private practice I work with a range of issues from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, grief, health issues including end of life, abuse, trauma etc.
